The country that gave birth to the Olympic Games will host the freshest Olympic sailing event.
Nafpaktos, from 24 September to 2 October 2022 will host the Olympic category of Kiteboarding (Kiteboarding) Formula Kite. The top athletes of Europe and beyond will take part in the 2022 Lepanto Formula Kite European Championships!
This is an international event that strengthens our country on the international map of sports destinations, giving the opportunity to exploit the huge pool of amateur athletes. At the same time, it mobilizes the mass of athletes in the competitive direction, bringing Greece closer to great distinctions and the creation of a new generation of Olympic champions, through a modern Olympic sailing competition.
The 2022 Lepanto Formula Kite European Championships is organized by the Municipality of Nafpaktia in co-organization with the Rio Iason Athletic Sailing Club and the Region of Western Greece. The Games will be held in cooperation with the Nafpaktos Yacht Club and the support of the Municipal Port Fund of Nafpaktia. The contract was awarded by IKA (International Kiteboarding Association), which is the official management body of the World Sailing Federation (World Sailing).
The organization is under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Sport (GSG), the Hellenic Sailing Federation (Hellenic Sailing Federation) and the Hellenic Kitesurfing Association (HKA).
The official announcement event of the organization will take place in Nafpaktos, on July 6, 2022, where the plan of the Games will be detailed and the promo video will be presented.
